Hooping Guggenheim

Performance/photo series

-2022-

In the photo series Hooping Guggenheim Jankowski challenges the interaction between the individual artist and the institution. Having spent decades working with, within and sometimes even tethered by numerous institutions he chooses in this work the iconic Guggenheim Museum as his sports partner and playmate.

A model of the building’s quintessential rotunda shape was created in separating parts which the artist took to a photography studio for one hour with the simple goal of keeping the museum in the air as long as possible. The action was documented with photography resulting in the final work – a number of diptych of inkjet prints.
