The owner of a store specializing in the repair of wooden floors demonstrated the proper use of the machinery he rents out – by sanding the floor of classroom K22 at the University of Fine Arts Hamburg (where students in Franz Erhard Walther’s class had their studio spaces). Thus, he created a clean base for the works to be displayed there in the upcoming end-of-year exhibition. Jankowski showed the video of this process on a monitor sitting directly on the floor, a kind of pedestal. In addition, the store later showed this informative video to potential clients.
As Jankowski walked the line between didacticism in both art education and learning how to use machinery, fine art edged ever closer to applied art.
