Concept

-2010-

In an ongoing series, Jankowski takes written remarks and drawings found in the guestbooks of various art institutions as the basis for neon sculptures. Each consists of one figurative doodle accompanied by a qualitative judgment regarding the unnamed exhibition. Since they are three-dimensional and emit light, the sculptures command viewers’ attention. Suddenly, comments that visitors made about an exhibition become the subject of an exhibition themselves. In addition, the handwriting and the quality of the sketches vary from one to the next. The title Visitors refers to the exhibition visitors, but also to the creatures they left behind.
