Der Wilde des Kurators / The Will of the Curator

Concept

Christina Landbrecht, a curator, explains her wishes. Through approximately 50 statements starting with »I want,« she outlines her profession and its parameters. She identifies her position and describes her daily routine, with all the positive and negative aspects – for example, meeting interesting people, discussing the optimal space for a video projection, but also the long workdays and the poor pay. At the same time, she accepts all of this as something that she wants.
Her declaration is interrupted three times by video works by Jankowski that she has chosen: The Perfect Gallery, Tableau Vivant TV, and Dienstbesprechung (Briefing), in each of which someone in the position of a curator plays a central role. Der Wille des Kurators is sometimes shown as a long video program, butalso as a stand-alone work, in which the three video works are included partway through for approximately five seconds simply as titles.
