concept
A series of 43 color photographs show Jankowski as ‘sandwich-man’ in the streets of Zurich. The board on his front states the question “what people do for money” while people on the street were invited to write their individual answers onto the board on his back. The photo series thereby forms a mosaic reflecting people´s relationship with money and work–topics that shape all human lives, not only those from one of the world´s principle financial centres. What People do for Money is also the title of the Manifesta Biennial curated by Jankowski in Zurich in the summer of 2016. In addition Jankowski collaborated with the Swiss based magazine Das Magazin, overseeing concept and design for the issue that was published simultaneously to the Manifesta Biennial and dedicated entirely to Jankowski’s project.
